Description
A fine set of replica Isle of Lewis Chess pieces. The chessmen are made from stone resin and feature a good amount of detail with delicate shading. The king height is 3.5 inch and all the pieces have felted bottoms. Ornamental Chess sets from Berkeley are better quality than cheaper alternatives, with crisper detailing and a slicker shadowing finish that results in a more genuine looking aging effect.
The skilled craftsmen at Berkeley Chess have interpreted these iconic chess pieces to produce a magnificent replica set that stays true to the majesty of the original sculptures.
Now on display in the British Museum and the National Museum of Scotland, the original pieces were discovered on the Isle of Lewis in 1831 and date back to the late 12th Century.
Please note that a Chess board is not included unless specified. We recommend a board with 50mm squares for this Chess set.
