Description

A variation of the ‘Lincoln Table’ specifically designed to be left outdoors in beer garden, yard etc. with weather treated wood, and a plastic chute designed not to retain water.

A genuine Toad in the Hole table with a lead lined top supplied with 4 brass toads. This wonderful version has an plastic chute for coin return rather than the more common, but more cumbersome, drawers which would collect water.

Made to the same dimensions as tables used in the annual World Championships, this table is constructed from treated wooden legs and boarding that are left relatively rough and only lightly sanded giving the ‘Rustic’ feel. This is meant for use in gardens and features a lead lined surface.

Toad in the Hole is a popular Pub game, mainly played in Sussex centered around the town of Lewes, where the World Championships are held. It’s a simple game that everyone can enjoy but still requires a good level of skill. The objective is to land your toads (brass coins) flat on the surface of the table or in the hole.

This table is made to order by a British craftsman. The worst case lead time is 4 weeks – but it’s usually less than this; if you have a deadline, please contact us and we will find out if it’s possible.

Also available is a rubber mat ochee to go with the table. The mat serves a double purpose – protecting the floor from toads that come off the table and providing the throwing line. The rear of the mat should be put level with the rear of the table.

The table is sent with the rear board upside down and the catching tray reversed. Before playing, both components need to be unscrewed and re-attached with the correct orientation. This requires a screwdriver but is a simple operation.

Table dimensions:

height to top of backboard = 96 cm

height to playing surface back = 72 cm

height to front of table = 67 cm

full width table = 45 cm

depth of table = 45 cm (plus collecting tray)

Playing surface:

depth front to back = 41 cm

width = 32.5 cm

(As all tables are made by hand there may be minor variances in measurements/colouring.)

Lead is a soft metal and as with all genuine toad tables, the lead will gradually deform and be warped by the Toad coins over time (this is all part of the fun – every toad table ends up with its own character). It will be necessary eventually to reform the lead either with a hammer or by hand. And after many years of use the lead may need replacing.

Please note that lead is a toxic metal if imbibed. We advise washing your hands after each use. This table is not suitable for children. Table is made from marine ply so it can be left outside during the summer months and will withstand light rain showers. However, it should be brought inside or thoroughly covered with a waterproof cover over winter and during extreme weather.
