Description
Ornamental metal chess set by Manopoulos celebrating the legendary and iconic Knight – the protagonist of many historical and infamous battles throughout the Medieval and Renaissance periods.
These chess figures have been created according to the evolution of the Knight to a noble, elegant guardian and protector during the Renaissance. In order to become a knight, one had to be trained in hunting and travelling, become skilled horse riders and train to be fierce but noble warriors. At the age of 20 they were knighted at a special ceremony during which they were presented their swords, swearing to use them only for sacred and fair purposes. The Pawn depicts a Knight kneeling at such a ceremony.
These chess pieces are beautifully made in zinc alloy and finished in gold and silver colours. With superb levels of detail and a good weight, these chess pieces are a joy to play with. The King has a height of 9.7 cm.
The included chessboard is just as impressive and the perfect accompaniment to the stunning chessmen. Raised on 4 ornate metal feet, the hand-finished 44 cm brass board features gold and black squares and an attractive border around the play-field. The luxury aesthetic of both chessmen and chess board is very impressive making this a chess set fit for display.
The Medieval Knight chess set by Manopoulos is presented in a luxury wooden gift box with each chess piece securely stored in individual place holders – the perfect gift for any chess enthusiast.
